The third edition of the Carbon Farming Knowledge e news has a range of informative articles on carbon farming including; policy updates from the Australian government on the Emissions Reduction Fund; articles on soil carbon research and methane and nitrous oxide; links to carbon farming farm case studies; and links to climate updates.

Understanding farm emissions – The Australian Farm Institute has produced four short YouTube broad acre farmer case studies, examining their carbon emissions and possible changes in practices that will reduce these emissions.

New song encourages farmers to make a ‘carbon resolution’ – Ardrossan singing farm consultant and Carbon Farming Knowledge consortium team member Bill Long launched a new parody song on YouTube in November, Carbon Resolution, designed to encourage farmers to consider how greenhouse gas emissions and global warming could be influencing the future of their farms.

Emissions Reduction Fund Update – The Australian Government is establishing the Emissions Reduction Fund (ERF) as the centerpiece of the Government’s plan to reduce green house gas emissions. The Emissions Reduction Fund Update is an email newsletter brought out by the Department of the Environment that provides regular updates on the implementation of the Emissions Reduction Fund.

Emissions Reduction Fund methods released for public consultation  – Consultation is currently open on the Sequestration of carbon in soil using modeled abatement estimates method.

What is PICCC? – The Primary Industries Climate Challenges Centre (PICCC) is a collaborative venture between the University of Melbourne and the Victorian Department of Environment and Primary Industries (DEPI).
